Welcome to Lac du Flambeau! |
| Boozhoo! Hello! (Anishinaabemowen
or Ojibwe language) ~ More Words |
We would like to invite you to experience the Lac du Flambeau heritage by sampling our succulent organic strawberries from the Golden Eagle Farm, find comfort in the traditionally harvested wild rice, and you can’t forget the mouthwatering Fry Bread. Walk the paths that our Ojibwe ancestors did, see how they built their homes, tools and the games they played. Shop at Adaawe Place, our new shopping district, and see the crafts and art that has been taught to generations. Take a break on the ample park benches throughout downtown where you can sit back and “Refresh Your Spirit”.

Pow Wow's in Downtown
Lac du Flambeau
July 29 +
August 5,12,19,26
SEE YOU THERE!!!!
7:00 PM
Under 6 free, Adults=$9,
6 to 12 =$7, Seniors=$5
My wife, two kids (ages 7 and 9) and I are yearly summer visitors to the area and we attended the Pow Wow last Thursday night. It was absolutely fabulous! I can't express enough to the organizers and creators of the event just how much we enjoyed it, learned from it, and appreciated the opportunity to be a part of it through the inter-tribal participation.
The Pow Wow is a wonderful tradition and celebration for all. Last year we very much enjoyed the experience of the village at Waswagoning. This year the highlight of our trip was the Pow Wow.
We much appreciate the energy and enthusiasm of the dancers, the chanters, the drummers as well as the effort of the organizers to bring the Pow Wow back to life.
Your contributions to keeping the Native American traditions alive are worthwhile and appreciated. If we visit again next year, we'll be back for sure.
Sincerely,
Bob Ray

Water temps on the chain continue to remain in the low to mid 70's. Walleye action has picked up pretty good for the most part. Cloudy days and early morning and late evening have been the best. Try weeds in 11 to 15 feet with jigs and leechs, in the evening try slipbobbers rigged with leechs and crawlers. Crankbaits worked over these weeds at nite will work also. Black bucktails and suface baits should produce over weeds with nice dropoffs for muskies.Try to fish the wind blown shorelines for these. Bass action is going good on the chain. Jigs with leechs and crawlers worked thru the deeper weeds have been working good. Northern pike are chasing baits now, try mepps ,daredevils, and spinnerbaits. Work the weeds in 6 to 12feet for pike. Perch are hitting small minnows and half a crawler in 10 to 18 feet. Tip light jigs and fish close to the bottom for these. Panfish are suspended in 6 to 18 feet, try slipbobbers with small leechs at certain depths until you connect fish then switch all bobbers to that depth. Crappies are also in the weeds suspended use beetlespins until you find them, then anchor and use minnows under a small float. |
