Fishing
At It's Finest!
Whether youre
cranking baits for bass, walleye, northern, or just funsie fishing for some slab
size crappies the Lac du Flambeau main chain of 10 lakes that cover some 9,000 acres plus
its 100 other concentrated bodies of water are all crystal clear spring fed mesotrophic
types. Their glacier-carved structure along with weed beds, drop offs, sand bars and fish
shelters offer the angler
action from early
spring through late fall.
The William J. Poupart Fish Hatchery at the lower end of Pokegama Lake transplants millions
of walleye, bass and musky fry and fingerlings into Lac du Flambeau lakes each year,
fortifying the future of angling and the theme "Fishing at its finest in Lac du
Flambeau."
Local bait and tackle shops are always ready to help the newcomer with local
conditions, along with bait types for the best action.
The main chain of ten lakes is connected by channels that will accommodate the average
pleasure and fishing boat. There are many boat ramps. Try us for a new line-wetting
experience.
World Record
Musky Waters
Some of our lakes are listed by the
Department of Resources as likely to produce a world's record
weight-class musky. Since 1975, Lac du Flambeau lakes have
established 3 new world's line class records for musky recorded
with the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame.
